Volunteering in the UK

Voluntary work enables you to:

• Gain an insight into a career area that may interest you in order to help you decide if it is definitely for you.

• Gain specific practical experience that is required to get into a particular career area, eg particular fieldwork skills for environmental jobs.

• Develop transferable skills that may be useful in a wide variety of career areas, eg organisational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
